Live Results

Two new rules will be used at the tournament for the live results:

1) During the group stage, the standings table shows only each player’s current position and goals scored and conceded. Points and the record of wins / draws / losses are not displayed.

2) A recorded match result is visible only for 15 minutes after it is entered. After that, the result is hidden. All results become fully visible only after the entire group is finished.

The purpose of this limited display is to increase the prevention of potential unfair manipulation of results.

In addition to the above rules, the previously used rule still applies: the standings table is not updated during the last 3 rounds of each group.

International Table Hockey Rules state:

4.6 Exclusion from the tournament
A player can be disqualified from the tournament by the tournament's committee of referees if he/she is:

Experience with fully visible live group standings shows that knowing the exact current situation in the group often leads to considerations of influencing results — for example, to help a certain player (not) advance to a higher final group, or to choose a preferred opponent for the play-off.

While knowing the exact standings is convenient for all participants — as they can track their chances after every match — it also helps players who are willing to ignore fair-play principles to engage in manipulative behaviour.

Supporting fair-play therefore takes priority over providing perfect real‑time information to players and fans following the tournament online.

Displaying only the position and total goals scored and conceded is a compromise between showing all statistics and showing nothing. The displayed goals scored and conceded allows every player to verify that their results have been recorded correctly. The displayed position gives everyone an overview of their current standing in the group. But it no longer reveals, for example, that a player is ahead by only a single point — and that everything may change after the next match.

We believe you will understand the reasons behind these rules. We also believe that you will enjoy the tournament just as much — or perhaps even more — thanks to them. In addition to supporting fair-play, these changes may also bring greater drama to the group stage.

FAQ:

Why are the complete standings not available?

We do not live in a perfect world, and for some players, knowing the exact current situation in the group can influence their approach to fair-play during the rest of the tournament. The limited display of the group standings is therefore intended to support fairness throughout the tournament.

Why can’t I see all of my played matches?

All results are hidden 15 minutes after they are entered. The reason is to prevent other players from easily checking the records of their opponents, which could encourage strategic considerations about influencing future results. All results become visible once the group is finished.

How can I verify that my results have been recorded correctly?

A result is visible for 15 minutes after it is reported. After that, verification is possible using the goals scored and conceded shown in the live standings. If I know the total sum of goals scored and conceded from my matches, I can compare it with the value shown in the live table.

How can I correct an incorrectly recorded result?

For 15 minutes after a result is entered, it can be corrected in the usual way by overwriting it in the application. After 15 minutes, the result is hidden and cannot be corrected immediately. Corrections are then possible only after the group is finished: according to the rules, there is a 15‑minutes window for corrections after the final printed cross-table of the group is printed.
